Casting Call for the TBE Purim Shpiel: “Esther’s Story (Taylor’s Version)”

We are searching for actors and singers for the TBE Purim shpiel, “Esther’s Story (Taylor’s Version),” with parodies of music by singer-songwriter, mega pop star, and 2023’s Time Magazine Person of the Year, Taylor Swift. All of our Erev Purim festivities, including the shpiel, will take place live and in person in our sanctuary on Saturday, March 23, 5:45–8:00 pm.

“Esther’s Story (Taylor’s Version)” features a number of Taylor’s biggest hits, and a script that’s fun for all ages. We have larger and smaller roles, some singing, some acting, some congregating. Come and find out what’s best for you. RSVP below.

Here is our orientation and rehearsal schedule:

Thursday, February 1, 7:00–8:30 pm – intro, orientation, and music for all potential cast members
Sunday, February 11, 1:30–3:30 pm – rehearsal

If you are even remotely interested in participating, please email Rabbi Jonathan Biatch (rabbi@tbemadison.org) and Cantor Jacob Niemi (cantor@tbemadison.org) or RSVP below. We’ll have fun telling Esther’s “Love Story,” and hold people in suspense over whether she can “Shake It Off” and save the Jewish people from Haman’s evil plot. Come and join the fun!
